FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Planning a wedding is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. I want this process to be as easy as possible for you. Here are some of the most common questions I get from couples. If there’s something you’re still wondering about, just ask—I’d love to chat.
Why should I pick Wild Juniper Photography? I’ve been photographing weddings for over 10 years and my priority is making you feel comfortable. I’ll be there to help your day flow smoothly and to capture the moments that matter most.
How do we book you for our wedding? Booking is simple. You can email me or fill out the contact form on my website. From there, you’ll choose the package that fits your needs, sign a contract, and pay a 20% non-refundable retainer to hold your date.
Can you help with planning the timeline? Of course. After photographing so many weddings, I can give helpful advice on what should happen when, making sure there’s enough time for portraits, family photos, and everything in between. I’ll help guide you so the day flows smoothly.
Can we meet before the wedding day? I’d love to. If you’re local to Traverse City or Cadillac, we can meet for coffee and chat. Another great option is booking an engagement session, which gives you a chance to see how I work and spend time together before the wedding.
How many photographers will there be? It’s usually just me, but a second photographer can always be arranged for an additional cost.
How many images will we get? You can expect around 50 to 75 images per hour of coverage.
How long does it take to get our images? You’ll receive a sneak peek within 7 to 10 days, and your full gallery will be delivered in about 4 to 6 weeks. Timelines may vary slightly during peak season.
Do you edit and retouch all the photos? Yes. Every image is edited for color correction and polished to match my style. I also include a select number of creatively edited images. If you’d like more extensive Photoshop work or detailed retouching, that can be done upon request for an additional cost.
Do you offer engagement sessions? Yes. I offer engagement sessions at a discounted rate when you book your wedding with me.
Do you travel for weddings and is there a charge? I love to travel. Anywhere from Grand Rapids up to Petoskey, travel is included. For locations more than 75 miles from my office, there is an additional charge of $50 per drive hour. If travel is more than 3 hours, a stay in a national chain hotel will also be requested.
What happens if you’re sick on the wedding day? If something unexpected keeps me from being there, I’ll arrange for a trusted associate from my close community of photographers to step in. You’ll still be in good hands with someone I trust completely.
What if the weather is bad on our wedding day? Northern Michigan can throw all kinds of surprises, but we’ll make the best of it. I’ll bring umbrellas if it rains, and we can always find covered or dry spots. Whatever the weather brings, I’ll make sure you still get beautiful photos.
Do you offer albums or prints? Yes. With your gallery, you’ll have the option to purchase professional prints. Wedding packages also include a print credit that you can apply toward your order.
Can we share our photos on social media? I hope you do! All I ask is that you tag @iamwildjuniper on Instagram and Facebook when you share.
Do you have vendor recommendations for Northern Michigan weddings? Yes. I’ve worked with many wonderful vendors in the area and have a list of some of my favorites that I’m happy to share.
What’s the best time of year to get married in Northern Michigan for photos? Peak wedding season is May through October, when the weather is warm and the scenery is beautiful. Winter weddings can be stunning too, with snowy backdrops and cozy vibes. The only month I don’t love is May, since it can be chilly, windy, and full of lake flies and bugs.
